After the Sherpa carefully prepared the lhopso, the Lama arrived and the ceremony began. This is to show respect to the mother goddess of Everest, Chomolungma. It was quite festive.
The national flags were raised, treats were shared, chang and rum were consumed, tsampa was applied to our faces and the prayer flags were unfurled. We then all danced the afternoon away. Fun was had by all! This was truly a memorable experience.
Tomorrow we enter the icefall! Many of the climbing sherpas will go ahead and cash supplies at camp 2. May God protect us throughout the rest of our journey.
