Today was a much needed rest day in Pheriche. Some of us took that more literally and some stretched what rest entails. After the initial low-lying clouds burned off, we had bluebird skies and clear views of all the surrounding peaks. Those of us that were a bit restless with a rest day decided to go on a short hike to a ridge just east of Pheriche. All along the hike we were greeted with absolutely breath-taking views of Ama Dablam, which seemed right on top of us, Makalu, Island Peak and Lhotse, as well as various other unnamed peaks. One peak was named Peak 38, apparently not grand enough to warrant more than a number.

Later in the afternoon, after we had time to rest and recuperate, we got a talk from three of the doctors that are currently working at the Himalayan Rescue Association. They presented some of the more recent, interesting cases seen at the clinic and brought along their adorable puppy, Nima, who was peeking out from one of their jackets during the entire presentation. We all were a little enamored by the puppy.
               
Tomorrow we head to Lobuche. After two days in Pheriche, we are rested and ready to continue our journey.
