Nepal is rich country in Natural Resources. Different species of plants, animals, birds & beautiful places are in Nepal. Among beautiful places Panch Pokhari is one of them. Panch pokhari which means five holy lakes, is located in the northern part of Kathmandu of Sindupalchok district. It is the 9th highest altitude wetland in the world. This area contains surprising amount of forest & wildlife. Panch pokhari is religious & respected place for Hindu. Beautiful Himalayan view & clear nature with distinct culture is most fascinating view of this region. The ethnics group of this region is Tamang, Sherpa, Brahmin, Chhetri, Gurung, Newar etc. The area offers cultural heritage, natural beauty and biological diversity. The more important festivals of this area are Lhosar, Dashain, Tihar, Buddha Jayanti, Chheju, Teej &Janai purnima.
In this area there are lots of historical places, Caves & naturally beautiful lakes which are most memorable part of trekking. We can see lots of old artistic Gumbas, Monastries, Temples on the way of Panch Pokhari. From the top of Panch Pokhari it offers an excellent view of Jugal Himal range, Rolwaling range, Himal, Gosainkund, Kanchenjunga and Makalu. The main peak of this area are Lenpo Gang or big white peak (6979m), Dorje Lakpa(6986m) and Ganchempo(6387m). The vegetation is represented by alpine pasture meadow & Rhododendron scrub. Mammals like Langur monkey, Assamese monkey, Pikas, civet cat etc, endangered animals like Musk Deer, Snow Leopard, Himalayan fox, Wild dog etc can be found in this region. Different types of highly prized medical herbs like Yarsa Gumba, Cordicep sinensis etc are found in this region. Butterfly diversity is very rich in this part. Birds like Monal, Blood pheasants are found in Nasim & Yaks are found in Nasim.
Agriculture & horticulture are the main occupation of the people living in this area. Potato is the main cash crops of higher productivity in this place & has a good market even in Kathmandu valley. Local people collect various medical herbs for trading.
Most attraction of this trek is wonderful adventures like mountain climbing, rafting, bunzy, cannoying. Varieties of experiences in a single trek can be observed. Lots of beautiful flowers, waterfalls, endangered animals can be seen here. Panch Pokhari trek is very clean destination for tourists. Panch Pokhari is naturally, culturally, traditionally rich. In the occasion of Janai Purnima (which is celebrating in July-Aug) many people come from nearby village & all over the Country for prayer in this place. Near Panch Pokhari there is a Hindu Temple of Lord Shiva. So Panch Pokhari is piligrimage place for Hindu.
For trekking the best months are Feb- June, Sep-Nov but however, July & August are also okay and trekking can be done but not so clear visibility.

Detail Itinerary of Panch Pokhari
Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu & transfer to hotel.
Day 2: Sightseeing in Kathmandu- Full day sightseeing in Kathmandu includes Hindu temple Pashupatinath (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) Monkey temple the Swoyambhunath. Also visit Kathmandu Durbar Square.
Day 3: Drive to Kathmandu to Chautara. (1418m) it takes 5 hrs.
Day 4: Trek Chautara to Phurse (2218m)- it takes approximately 5-6 hrs. We have to pass through many villages, farming terraces, some fabulous mountains view of Gaurishankar, Dorje lakpa. Phurse is a pasture land where different villages people bring their domestic animals for the purpose of grazing. It is a small village mainly inhabited by Tamang People.
Day 5: Trek Phurse to Kami Kharka (2985m)- it takes approximately 6 hrs from Phurse to Kami Kharka. On the way we can see forest covered with Oak, Pine, Rhododendron & other natural vegetation. We have to walk mostly up hills till Kami Kharka. We can also see beautiful views of Gaurishankar, Dorje lakpa, Jungal himal range.
Day 6: Trek Kami Kharka to Pauwa Bas (3000m) 6hrs. We can see forest covered with Rhododendron, Oak, Pine, Juniper & other natural vegetation. Pauwa Bas is the place for shelter of local pilgrims.
Day 7: Trek Pauwa Bas to Hille Bhanjyang (3720m) approximately 6hrs.The way of Hille Bhanjyang goes up hill passing through forest having different plant species like Bamboo, Pine, Oak, Rhododendron (National flower of Nepal) & other alpine vegetation. From Hille Bhanjyang we can see fascinating view of Waterfall, Rivers & village at a far distance.
Day 8: Trek Hille Bhanjyang to Nosyampati (3631m) 4hrs. We have to walk up hill until we reach Nosyampati. On the way you can see the forests with views of Jugal Himal Range, Gaurishankhar Himal, Mountain deer & Danfe (National bird of Nepal)
Day 9: Trek Nosyampati to Panch pokhari (4010m) approximately 4hrs. The route goes passes through Lauribinayak to Panch Pokhari. You are surprise to see alpine vegetation, Rocky Mountains & wildlife. In Nepali Panch Pokhari means five lakes in Nepali. In the month of August the festival held in this place called Janai Purnima. Many Hindu & Buddhist pilgrimages gather here in this festival. Panch Pokhari offers excellent view of Jungal Himal Range, Rolwaling range, Gosaikunda etc.
Day 10: Trek Panch Pokhari to Nosyampati (3-4hrs). While trekking we have to back from Panch Pokhari to Nosyampati.
Day 11: Trek Nosyampati to Dhukhang (2100m) Approximately 6hrs. The trail goes down Passes through forest having different types of plants species like Bamboo, Pine, Oak, Juniper etc. Before we reach Dhukhang we come across Chortens &we can see prayer flags fluttering in the breeze. Dhukhang is small village mainly having ethics group of Tamang & Sherpa.
Day 12: Trek Dhukhang to Dhap (1600m) Approximately 6hrs. After crossing Dhukhang our destination is to reach Dhap. You have to walk along with Indrawati River with fascinating view of farming terraces, human settlements, green hills & different activities of people.
Day 13: Trek Dhap to Melamchi Bazar (870m) Approximately 6hrs. Today the trial goes along with Indrawati River passing through different villages, hydro electricity project, farming terraces. On the way to Tipani we reach Melamchi Bazar.
Day 14: Drive Melamchi Bazar to Kathmandu. Drive back to Kathmandu which takes 5 hrs.
Day 15: Free day for shopping. You have free day for shopping. In the evening there will be Nepali dinner with cultural show.
Day 16: Final departure.
