10th April, 2014 - Trek to Dingboche

Tashi delek!.  Sorry there was a critical error in an earlier post.  At Bodhinath stupa in Kathmandu we walked CLOCKWISE around the stupa, not counterclockwise.  To obtain full karmic value you must always walk CLOCKWISE around stupas, mani walls, prayer flags, etc.

Today we walked from Tengboche to Dingboche (~4400m). The first part of the walk was through a rhododendron forest down to the Dudh Kosi  river then ‘up’ to the village of Pangboche. Along the way we had constant views of Ama Dablam, one of the worlds most beautiful peaks. In Pangboche we met with Lama Geshe in his home. He blessed us with katas and prayer strings, chanted a couple short Tibetan prayers, and taught us to say “om mani padme hung  hri” correctly. Our butchered pronunciations made him laugh in a way that reminded me of the Dalai Lama.  Afterwards we hiked to Somare (sho-ma-ree) where we stopped for a nice lunch in blazing sunshine. From there it was a two hour hike to Dingboche.  An hour after arriving it started snowing, hard enough to make the pastures white. Everyone is happy and healthy. Namaste.
