This morning we woke up early and took Chris to the local hospital. She was not feeling well and the verdict was mild AMS and she would have to go back down the mountain. We both agreed that one of us should try to at least make it to base camp so we decided to split up, with Bob and I going up the mountain, and Chris going to a lower elevation.
As Bob and I gained over 2500 feet in elevation, it started to snow. The consistency of the snow started out really dry, kind like small pellets, but after lunch turned into more the white fluffy flakes that I am accustomed to. After crossing the river we headed back up the hill a full 2500 foot elevation gain.
Once in Tengboche, we visited the local monastery and were able to sit in on a prayer session by the local monks. I even got my picture with one of them. At dinner, we talked with El Salvadore, Sarah and her husband Carl.
