Acclimatizing

Finally we have reached altitudes that help us to acclimatize for the climb ahead. We are at Ghora Pani, altitude 2860 meters. We also hiked up to the Poon Hill at 3200 meters to assist our acclimatization. The hill is a nice view point to Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges but today the view was obscured by clouds.

We climb up again before sun rise tomorrow to see the first beams against the snowy giants.

Today morning started with a nice easy climb through a jungle. We washed our faces with freezing cold water on a water fall. Later we saw a huge monkey jump over us up in the trees. The jungle was impressive, but now we are above the tree line, in an amazing rhododendron forest.

While Pasi was fighting with his broken camera, Timo and Malla admired a huge eagle, very close, soaring against Dhaulagiris face.

In the darkening night, wearing dry clothes, we enjoyed a glass of Raksi, a local rice wine.
