Today our trek started. Early in the morning at 5:15 am, the team was ready to go to airport. We got the information from Lukla contact that the weather is not favorable to fly on time. So, nothing to do just wait and wait for clear weather of Lukla!
During the free time we chat at the airport about many things. Klaus mentioned that he has a good experience of ice-skating which he does many times every winter in Stockholm. He also loves downhill-skiing and cross-country-skiing. He has also done the “Vasaloppet”. That is a cross-country skiing race that is 92 km:s long! Nowadays he teaches sport-psychology to top-athletes as well as to teenagers. One of his visions is to help people to perform better, whatever the age or profession is. In the trekking group he is responsible for the training before the expedition and for the complete evaluation after words. Ram, our Peak Promotion staff, who works as a film and expedition manager, was at the airport to board us to airplane. He was happy that his film news was in the daily Nepali newspaper. He said that his two films were selected on Cannes film festival.
The flight was taken off from Kathmandu Airport around 10 am. It was really exciting flight to Lukla due to the heavy cloud on they way. Normally, it takes 30 minutes to Lukla from Kathmandu on flight. But, today it took the plane almost 40 minutes due to the clouds and bad weather. Peak Promotion’s staffs were at the airport to manage our baggage.

Then we organized the gear, took tea and started our first day trek. We had wonderful lunch at Chapplung.
The weather is not so hot today. We all enjoyed walking first day to Phakding. Tomorrow we will head for Namche.
