Clear with light wind this morning. I had a rough night so after a hot drink Terri and I went to the HRA clinic to see Luanne again. This time she had me try a different antibiotic. Some of the bacteria in this area are resistant to certain antibiotics so hopefully a change will help. After this visit I was back in our tent resting. Terri’s schedule calls for her to head back to Lukla tomorrow morning and she is concerned about leaving me in this condition. Hopefully this new antibiotic works fast and I am feeling better by tomorrow morning.
It started snowing shortly after lunch and there were 3 – 4 inches of fresh snow by dinner time. At dinner I was able to eat some mashed potatoes and fruit. This was at least a start at getting some food down. Terri spent much of the afternoon packing for her departure tomorrow morning. Joanna (a Swedish Surgeon) will also be going down with Terri along with two porters and a Sherpa guide. Joanna was with a team of six WMS (wilderness Medical Society) members that are climbing Everest. As she got to EBC she was having difficulty breathing. After meeting with the HRA doctors it was determined that she has exercised induced asthma made worse by the altitude. With this setback she decided to head home.
