Lhotse Expedition

17th April, 2012 - Day 2 at Everest Base Camp (17,500 ft.)

It was clear and cold this morning.  When the sun hits our tent (7:15 AM) it quickly warms up inside even though the outside warms very little.  After breakfast – only a hot drink for me, I was back in our tent to sleep.  I did not feel any better dinner.  The Krapf group arrived in the early afternoon. .  Both Terri and I joined them on their arrival and at dinner.  Dale was really struggling with one of his legs.  The circulation was poor due to a problem on Island Peak that seemed to aggravate a previous surgery.  Dale and his wife Nannette met with HRA (Himalayan Rescue Association) doctor Luanne Freer concerning dales leg.  After discussion it was determined that Dale should be flow out to Kathmandu for further medical attention.  The flight was set up for tomorrow morning and Dale’s wife Nannette would also fly with him along with their friend Glenda who was also on the trek with them.
