This morning we decided to walk all the way back to Phaplu in one day instead of two. After a pancake breakfast we were just to say Goodbye and Thank you to Wongchu’s sister and family and had a peak into the kitchen, a real local Nepal kitchen. We had a total chock… The whole family were sitting in a heavy (HEAVY) fog eating breakfast!! We couldn’t breathe, we couldn’t see anything and from our point of view this is a total madness, a suicide. A long Nepal history we learned, 95% of the houses in the mountain have no chimney, they just make a open fire in the kitchen and all the smoke have no way to go. I learned yesterday that respiratory problems is the most common disease in Nepal!?
Our way back went through the jungle, fantastic huge trees and beautiful valleys and finally we reached Phaplu at 5:30 pm. Happy but exhausted and I think I never have been so sweaty before… Back at the Everest Lodge we all had something to drink and then I had a hot shower, Tommy asked how much I appreciated this shower on a scale from 1-10. I gave it a 12!! A fantastic feeling after five days with no shower.
A nice homemade dinner and now I’m totally exhausted and are going to bed, between real sheets. The sleeping bag is unpacked….
