Today we headed off to Lobuche, 4900m. It was a fairly short walk – 3 ½ hours.
But the body is feeling quite low in energy these days – I caught myself a cold yesterday, and the lack of oxygen coupled with the runny nose, and the low temperatures makes the physical activity a challenge. But we are constantly rewarded with amazing views – I really don’t how to share this with you guys – the photos, amazing as they are, still doesn’t do reality justice. I feel so humble here among the Himalayan Mountains.
The rough weather also makes you feel very human and fragile. Today we saw 5 helicopters flying down people with altitude sickness, and I ran into another Danish fellow heading down the mountain because he was feeling sick also.
But the spirit is high, and we keep pushing on – powered by daal bhat, and lemon/orange tea.
On the way to Lobuche we had a light lunch at Thukla – and of course some tea. It defiantly gave some extra energy, and it serves as a reminder that I have to keep eating more.
Now heading off to my beloved down sleeping bag, where the temperatures are always high :)
Greetings from the rooftop of the world!
