The day started at 6:15am with a knock on the door with the question, “Black tea or Coffee with sugar?” my roomy is usually the first to jump out of bed to open the door to smiling Sherpa’s with beverage service; is this the Ritz Carlton? Then it’s a rush to pack your bags, well not really pack, more like stuff your bags, then sit and push, and pull, to get what you thought fit nicely the night before, into the same bag, but only to find out that the same stuff seems to have gotten more expansive than the day before.
It’s off to breakfast which people really seem to like and willing to share a taste of what they’ve ordered. By 8:15 we’re off trekking, and it always starts off full of energy because we’ve had a night to rest, and just eaten a pretty good breakfast with lots of tea. Then it happens, the first ascent, and the breathing chorus breaks out , huffing and puffing, almost sounds like a team of horses in the derby that have just crossed the finished line.
Though the ascent was grueling in my opinion, our “Fearless Leader”has tunes rocking, and is directing in unison background accompaniment of some popular tunes; she also sings when no one else is singing going up, and going down dusty and rocky trails; it’s really good.
So today I decided to capture everyone’s “Fantasy Food” since everyone has been mentioning from time to time what they really would like to be eating “right now;” here is the list as they wrote them:
- New York style Pizza
- Smoked Salmon with avocado, prawn cocktails with a cold diet coke, then a chicken burger with mozzarella and pesto
- Chipotle burger from Chili’s
- Grilled Turkey and cheese
- Fish Tacos
- New York Steak Strip at Ruth Chris
- Toro Sashimi
- Ice Cold Coca Cola
- Five Guy’s Burger
- Red wine and cheese
- Cheese and a big fat delicious hamburger with big fries
- Dark green salad
- Chipotle tacos
- Sushi from Wasabi
- Fillet steak rare with Dijon mustard
- Green salad
- Vanilla Milkshake
- Cheeseburger from McDonalds mashed potatoes
- Chips and salsa
- Chocolate chip cookies
- Peach cobbler with Ice Cream on top
We end the day with a meal, and retire to private time to prepare for another day, a day we know that will be filled with team, food, and lots of energy expended to get to the next destination.
