Khumbu Looks Prosperous

"After some study of houses in the area, Mike and Tim were unable to continue up Rowaling Valley and had to return to KTM. Got on a plane immediately the next day for Khumbu, where we found the storm that hit us near Tsinla Pass had left snow as far down as Monju. We had a chance to take a look at plenty of new Sherpa houses on the way up; despite mud from melting snow, Khumbu looks prosperous. We're now in Namche Bazaar, where Tim will spend several days looking at construction old and new. We'll head over to Thame, then up the alley to Ringju La, then over the top to Gokyo from behind Gokyo Ri, then back to a familiar route for us -- Cho La, and down to Periche, and back down toward Namche with the Mera party, whom we plan to meet at Tengboche. (Mike's treasured Mani Rimdu T-shirt was stolen, so he has to get back.) Sorry about so few postings -- it's been a pretty wild week!"
