Early wake up call at 04.50. In spite of the time the hotel served an excellent breakfast assortment; eg. Omelet, eggs Benedictine, fresh fruit pancakes. The minibus left the hotel at 05.30 for the domestic airport and the first adventure for the day: a Mountain Flight around Mount. Everest.

It was raining outside! Very unusual for May! So - it was not sure that the plane would fly. Coming to the airport we found that it was still uncertain but after a while we were given our boarding cards. Yes! We would fly around Mount Everest. We boarded the little plane equipped with our cameras and binoculars. Everyone was given a window seat. The expectations were as high as the Mountains.

The take off was smooth and the pilot drove the plane through the clouds only to come into a new layer of the clouds and the further layer of clouds and so on until he finally announced that he would turn around and go back to Kathmandu. The sight would not improve so no mountains were visible.

We will probably have another fly for Himalaya in the end of the week. While waiting for the flight for the next adventure, our tour leader Wongchu Sherpa took us to a monument for his late Sherpa friend Babu Chhiri who died on Mt. Everest in 2001. Babu Chhiri Sherpa had reached the summit of Mt. Everest 10 times and also slept there in a tent for 21 hours.

Going to Temple Tiger

The flight to Bharatpur took 25 minutes. Jeeps took 1 hour 30 minutes drive to Tiger Temple lodge that is situated at the Chitwan National park in the sub - tropical jungle and with Himalayas as a beautiful and distant background.

The Lodge was about 30 bungalows built on stealth and with 2 big round houses in the middle; a sitting room and a dining room.

After a very good lunch with Indian food we had some leisure time, some choose to sleep and some to chat and drink.

At 5 p.m. we gathered to go to the elephant ride safari. 4 elephants took us our in the Jungle. Fairly comfortable. The main attraction was of course to see tigers. The closest we got was to see tracks of Tiger paws Im the mud beside a water whole.

We saw several Rhinos, some of us also a small Rhino Calf, deers, a jackal, a peacock and other birds. It was a great experience to ride the elephants in silence through the wild Landscape.
