We have arrived in Ghorepani, making the last few hundred yards trek up snow covered steps to our guest house. There is a chimney in the middle of the room giving off wonderful, life-saving heat, and it feels great! The day started off hot enough, though, when we left Hile under a beauitful clear morning sky. The sun started to beat down on us and we stopped to take off our jackets. The next few hours trek involved a steep hike up to Uleni, where we stopped for lunch and stared at the snow capped peak of Annapurna South, though it was soon lost behind clouds in the distance. After a nice break, we met a fellow trekker from South Korea who was very friendly. The afternoon walk was mostly through the jungle, by numerous waterfalls and through beautiful trees. Unfortunately there were still quite a few steps! Today was up, up, up, then up some more. Tonight is (I believe) our highest elevation that we sleep at – around 10,000 feet. We will wake up before the sunrise to hike up Poon Hill, where, if we are lucky, we will see an incredible sunrise as well as stunning views of the Annapurna masif – should make for great photos.
