Mt. Everest

  1st May, 2011- From Dingboche

First some good news – Henrik is feeling well and is already in Thengboche. This is great news and tomorrow he will join the rest of us in Dingboche.

The second good news of the day was that the weather finally cleared up and we could for the first time see Mt.Everest. The whole day was sunny and nice and we had the mighty Everest, Lohtse and Nuptse range in front of us, and one of the world’s most beautiful mountains, Ama Dablam, on our right hand side. A truly amazing sight.

The trek took the group around five hours. We kept a nice and slow tempo but still it was a rather hard day. We had to gain 500 altitude meters and at 4.000m and above this is not an easy task. Some members of the team had a rather hard day on the trail.  However, all made it safe and sound to Dingboche and has completed a very strong performance today.

Tomorrow we will climb Nagartsang peak (5.064m) for acclimatization purposes and then sleep another night in Dingboche. Jakob and Birgitta will however not join us. They will rest in Dingboche after having felt tired during and after today’s trek.
But most of all we look forward to seeing Henrik again!
