Swedish Everest Base Camp and Lobuche Peak expedition

30 April, 2011- From Tengboche

Today it was time to part from the Make a Kid Smile-group. They spent today in the surroundings of Namche and will tomorrow go back down to Lukla and Kathmandu.

The rest of us continued to Thengboche. Six of us that is. Yesterday evening Henrik got altitude sickness related symptoms. Even though feeling better today we took the decision that he would remain in Namche for one extra day resting and then continue tomorrow if feeling strong enough. Hopefully he will catch up with us in Dingboche on Sunday

where we will have our next acclimatization stop. The rest of the group is feeling fine and seem to be in good shape. However, altitude sickness can strike very suddenly and you always have to be observant on the symptoms. Our experienced guides and the logistics of Peak Promotion makes me feel very safe if anything should happen.

The trek to Thengboche is very nice and easy before lunch. It’s mostly downhill and the view is marvelous. Unfortunately it was rather cloudy so we missed out on the breath taking views of Everest, Lhotse, Nupste and AmaDablam Hopefully we will see them tomorrow.

	Just as we entered our lodge in Thengboche it started raining real heavily. Good timing! We just waited for our bags, changed cloths and then went to the monastery where we participated in the daily prayer/chanting session. It’s a very magic and special moment.

Soon it’s time for dinner and tomorrow we continue to Dingboche
