The day started with excitement before 6 AM with drums and a group of young people singing traditional songs to celebrate a Hindu festival. Magical in the dark. We had front row seats as our rooms and balcony faced Main Street. We have included a video (dark) with sound so you can share the magic - We don’t have a clue what they are signing about..
Everyone was anxious to begin the walking part of the trek but the first part we shared with busses and all manner of carts. We also were befriended by a dog that Jessy immediately named Bacon who walked with us until lunch time. After lunch we left the roads and crossed over a hanging bridge that crossed the Marsyangdi River that was made of planks with many holes so we could see the drop to the river below! We especially appreciated the prayer flags hung in the middle of said bridge above a two foot gap. Maybe there is more to that story...
We continued through several small villages with everyone being friendly with the traditional greeting - “Namaste.” We think our crew with four small children was as much an experience for the local villagers as us visiting Nepal.
We have Nadi Bazar and the kids are playing frisbee with other kids in the small town – this is what we came to Nepal to experience – all is good. Right now Jessy is playing with two Nepalese children under the watchfull eyes of their grandmother!
We had an almost hot shower and all of us will sleep well tonight.
