Yeah, I finally made it to Kathmandu!!! The flights were uneventful, except for the 90-minute delay in Bahrain and circling around Kathmandu for 45 minutes to wait out the thunder storms. Kathmandu hadn’t gotten any rain for about 6 months, so the past week of rain was very welcome for the locals. Ram, my Peak Promotion contact, told me that it was good luck. When I checked into the Tibet Guest House they had no power, so the porters had to lug my bags up 6 flights of stairs to my room. I made sure to tip them well!
After my morning interview with Billi from Himalayan Database (pictured), I did gear check with Ram and Pemba, one of my sherpas. Thankfully I had pretty much everything for the climb and just need to get a couple of items. They were surprised at how lightly I had packed and still have everything plus extras. Hmmm… little do they know.
