During the night it snowed about six inches. Kame, Mingmar and Pemba were at 5 AM. But due to the snow and light winds they decided not to go up to the South Col. Ngima and I got up at 7 AM to get ready to go up to camp three.
After going to bed last night I was again struck with the dreaded camp two gastro intestinal illness. By morning I was feeling weak and dehydrated. In spite of that Ngima and I headed up around 8 AM.
We hiked up through camp two and started across the upper Khumbu glacier towards the Lhotse face. After about one and one half hours I realized there was no way I would make it up to camp three. We turned around and walked back to camp two.
Back at camp two I spent the afternoon drinking lots of liquids and eating very bland foods such as plain rice. My hope is to re-hydrate and eat enough to go up to camp three tomorrow. It continued to snow throughout the afternoon. |
