Kame, Ngima, Pemba and I got up at 3 AM and departed at 3:40 AM for camp two. It was clear and cold – perfect for going up through the icefall. There were some Sherpa’s also going up through the ice fall, but we were able to move well without delays. The day time temperatures have continued to get a little warmer as the days have gotten longer. Cold night time temperatures help make the travel up through the ice fall safer. We arrived at camp on at 7:40 AM. After a quick stop we headed on to camp two and arrived at 9:30 AM. I carried a light load while the Sherpa’s carried about 50 pounds each.

At camp two Pemba made some hot drinks and than Kame and Ngima headed back to base camp. I spent most of the day in my tent relaxing and reading. I finished a book from my previous stay at camp two and started another. Pemba kept me supplied with hot drinks and soup throughout the day. He fixed a very good dinner in the evening.

The weather was clear most of the day with some light wind and a few clouds in the evening.
