After breakfast Chet, Steve, Anna and I walked up into the icefall and set up a rope to do some ice climbing. This was the first time for Steve and Anna and they did quite well. After several hours we packed up and came back to base camp for lunch. After lunch Steve and Anna had to catch up with some climbers needing medical attention and Chet retired to his tent for a nap.

This afternoon Chet and I will finish packing for two days up on the mountain. Chet will make his first trip up to camp one with one of the Sherpa’s. I will be going on up to camp two with the other two Sherpa’s and our camp two cook Pemba. Our plan is to have Chet stay at camp one tomorrow night while I stay at camp two. The next day I will come down to camp one with the Sherpa’s and carry more gear back up to camp two. If Chet is up to it he will also go back with us to camp two.

Tonight we will play some more cards and get to bed early. Tomorrow Chet and I will be getting up at 4 AM for a 5 AM departure.
