However, it started slower than expected. We arrived at the airport at 6:30 am ready to go, but it wasn't until 1:30pm that we finally boarded our plane. Winds kept our 15- 18 passenger plan from leaving sooner. We made the 30 minutes flight over rivers, farmland, steep rocky hills and clouds. We dropped through the clouds to land on a short slanted runway. After lunch in Lukla the porters set off and we began our trek at 4:30pm. The trail was rocky and easy to follow as it passed through many beautiful villages, woods with rhododendrons flowering trees in bloom and crossed the river on a high suspension bridges. It started to rain as we came into Phakding ready for dinner and a good night's sleep. |
