Upon our arrival from Delhi, Chet, Dick and I were warmly greeted by Ram and Ganesh from Peak Promotion. Once they secured our Visas and piled our 17 duffels into and on the van, we headed to the Tibet Guest House in Thamel, Kathmandu. Within minutes of setting into our rooms we received a call from the legendary chronicler of all Himalayan expeditions in Nepal for over four decades, Ms. Elizabeth Hawley. After coming to Nepal from the US as a reporter she stayed and her meticulous records have become invaluable (If you get a chance, look her up on the internet). Following lunch Ms. Hawley joined us to gather information from Dick and Chet on their specific climbing plans and schedule.

Next up was a little shopping trip to Everest Hardware so Chet could buy a down jacket for the climb. We visited Peak Promotion office, walked around Thamel a little and retired early.
