Alan Plisskin: Day 3 on the trail— a day of rest and acclimatization: After 2 days of up and down with a net gain of 4,800 ft, this day is appreciated by all. Going over 6 suspension bridges over the roaring Dudh Kosi (Milk River) in the last two days has been intense at times for those that are acrophobic, but every step was worth it. For those that have not experienced mountain or backcountry hiking, this has been an eye opening experience. Today we walked around town, went to the Sherpa Cultural Museum that had a typical sherpa’s home (very efficient design) and the Mt Everest Documentation Centre which was very informative and had pictures of all the summiteers, which included Mingmar (our head guide) who has summitted 3 times and Wungchu, our contact in Kathmandu. Enjoying the sites and the friendly Nepalese people. Tomorrow we’re off to Kumjung.
