01 December, 2005, Gorakshep

The day started out with filming in the village of Lobuche before heading out on the trail to Gorak Shep. The team spent about an hour around the village before hitting the trail with the goal to reach Gorak Shep for lunch. The distance is not very far, and on the way, David, Lhakpa and Kami stopped for a game of “rock toss.” Along the way, the team also stopped to solve some boulder “problems.” The boulder was taken over by 5 or 6 camera team members all at once.
The trek to Gorak Shep reveals the summit of Mount Everest again, which we have not seen in a couple days. The team reached 17,000 feet for the first time on the trek. Everyone is strong and healthy.
After lunch, the camera crew began preparing for the next few days of filming in and around Gorak Shep and Base Camp. In the evening, the camera crew went extremely quickly up to Kala Pattar to shoot the view of Everest.
