Khumjung for Filming

This morning, the camera crew went up to Syangboche pass near Khumjung for filming. Kami was setting up camera. Kami is one of the best trekking and mountaineering guides in Peak Promotion as well as filming assistant. Kami has been to the top of Everest 4 times. He has worked with David Breashears for many filming trips including Kilimanjaro IMAX film and Universal Studio’s film on Everest in 2004.

There was nice filming on Syangboche pass. Weather was nice in the morning and afternoon. In the morning, Bill Anderson, Editor, accompanied the camera crew to the site for filming and recorded sound to go along with the film. In the afternoon, Bill and Callie, the Associate Producer, hiked up to Everest View Lodge to record sound of the goraks flying above the Khumjung Valley before joining the camera crew for the sunset shooting in the Syangboche Pass.

Bill Anderson is trekking with David and working as a sound recordist on this trip, but back in Boston, Bill will be editing the film. He has been an editor for more than 25 years and has worked with David previously on the Kilimanjaro IMAX film.

Kami and Mahadev Sharma, also of Peak Promotion, are working on this trek to make this cyber-cast possible. Mahadev traveled to Namche Bazaar today to work on the Web site updates and to enjoy the weekly regional market in Namche.

The team has decided to spend another night in Khumjung for several reasons. The region is absolutely beautiful, and the team is very much enjoying acclimatizing here. There is also more filming to be done in four different locations in the Khumjung area. The camera team will visit two of these filming sites tomorrow.
