Our Sherpa Pasang a porter and I headed up to advance base camp for Lobuche East after breakfast. We did not need an early start, since it only took a few hours to get up to 17,500 ft. The hike involved going back down the trail towards the memorials and then heading up through a relatively steep boulder strewn slope. There were short sections that had fixed line along several narrow ledges that allowed us to gain the rocky snowy saddle for our advance base camp.
We got our tent set up and we squeezed in for lunch / dinner. By 6:30 it was dark and we were off to sleep. We will get up at 2 AM for our climb.
