Finally this trips goal was in reach as we woke up this morning in Lubuche. The temparature was moderate cold but we started little bit later than the rest of the trekkers as we are a bit quicker due to our long aclimatizing  period. We arrived in Gorak Shep, the lodge under Kala Patthar and the final lodge before Everest Base Camp (EBC), after 1 hour and 35 minutes. Feeling good at arrival to Gorak Shep  and due to the good whether we changed our original plan of going to Kala Patthar to day and EBC tomorrow. Instead we decided to do them both on the same day.

We headed of to the EBC after a quick lunch and the way to the base camp was crowded with trekkers going there. Finally at EBC we saw the famous Kuhmbu Ice fall which is the most dangerous part of the accent of Everest from the south side. There were no climbing teams there so we just took some photos, picked some rocks and went back to the lodge.

Well back we started the climb at 3 PM to get to the top of Kala Patthar 5 500 m. This place is probably the best place to se the sun set on the highest point on earth. As the sun went down and left a pink/orange light on Everest and surrounding mountains the temperture dropped dramatically and the wind picked up. This was clearly much more exiting than EBC and the view is a memory of a life time.

Exhausted we went straight to bed after this long day. Sore throuts after the Kumbhu air at 5000 m. Some of us hade mild headaches also but nothing to worry about, mostly due to the cold and dry air.

Tomorrow we'll heading down to Pheriche at 4200 m leaving the high alltitudes behind us.
